Fall paintings

Here are my two latest paintings. 12 x 16 Oil on Canvas Board
The first one is a fall tree that was on a parking lot island. I converted the background to look like a forest.
The second one is from Artist's Forum Challenge. I didn't get to this one when it was first posted, so I only had 4 days to paint it. Next time I'll spend more time putting together a more pleasing arrangement. This one is kind of busy.

The Artist

I put a great deal of time on this. It was supposed to be Alla prima. But I just kept nit picking at it. Still trying to loosen up. I even bought a book to help me. This ?quick? painting took me 10 hours. I just don't know when to let it go.

Brown Barn

This was a challenge on Artist Forum. It's 8 x 10 Oil on canvas board. I'm beginning to hate spoke wheels.

Bride or Me

This is a Challenge from August 14, 2009. The original photo was taken in Krumlov, Czeck Republic. When I got to the face I decided to use one of myself taken just before my wedding (50 years ago). To paraphrase an old song 'it's a nice face but it's not my face.) But after putting in 15 hours on the face, I give up. Next time I do a face I'll have to work larger. I would post my photo for you to compare but it was a b/w snapshot. And the face is about 1/2 inch. The face on this painting is 2 inches. Pretty close to painting a miniature.
