Walking through Pennypack Park I was at the right place at the right time. This dog, whose owner left him off his leash, plunged into the water to go after the ducks. It was early spring and there was no green foliage. So I went back to the same spot in June. There was so much overgrowth it was difficult to zero in on the same spot.
This was only the second dog I ever painted. He seemed to grow as I painted him. I hope he isn't too big in proportion to the ducks.
I want to do a fuller picture of a larger size. If you have any suggestions how I can make the ducks stand out a little more, let me know.
This picture is 9 x 12, oil on canvas board.
